The International Baccalaureate (IB) is one of the most demanding high school programmes in the world, and it’s not for everyone. Success requires strong academic ability, motivation to learn, and maturity beyond one’s age. Boarding school life also calls for openness and a social mindset.
Building a Strong Foundation
At GKX, we go beyond traditional exchange programmes. We focus on the student’s complete educational journey in Denmark from early summer camps or the Danish “efterskole” to full IB Diploma studies. When we accept a student, it is never just for one year, but with a long-term view of helping them succeed in the Danish education system.
Our goal is not to fill seats but to ensure every student has the academic level and personal readiness needed to progress successfully. That’s why we sometimes recommend starting at a lower grade level than families first expect. It’s not about slowing down. It’s about building a strong foundation for future success.
The Danish Way of Learning
The Danish Pedagogical Approach emphasizes freedom, dialogue, and creative thinking over memorization. This often requires time and adjustment for international students.

At GKX, we don’t just prepare students for school in Denmark. We prepare them for life and learning in the Danish way.
For some students, the journey begins with the IB Diploma. For others, it starts with two weeks at a Danish summer camp that might be the beginning of a year long study journey.
Study Programmes Offered by GKX
Summer School (age 13-15)
A 2-4 week camp offering students their first taste of Danish education and boarding school life.
Year 10 – Danish “Efterskole” / IGCSE Program
One-year academic and cultural experience combining IGCSE subjects with personal development.
Year 11 – Pre-IB
A preparatory year for the IB Diploma focused on academic English, independence, and social adaptation to Danish study culture.
Years 12-13 – IB Diploma
Full two-year IB Diploma programme (some schools allow early entry in Year 11).
Bachelor Guidance
Personalized guidance for students completing the IB in Denmark and planning for university admission. Currently available only for students enrolled at GKX partner schools.
